Imphal, June 20:
Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur Women’s Front (MWF), and media organizations have embarked on a mission from Imphal to Jiribam to assess and support relief efforts in the wake of recent tragic events.
On June 6th, in Jiribam District at Sorok Atingbi Khunou, Soibam Saratkumar (60) was brutally killed while working on his farm. Kuki militants reportedly set fire to numerous Meitei houses in Borobekra and Jiri, forcing residents to flee under gunfire. They are now currently living in relief camps.
The six-member team, which includes two journalists, will visit the relief camps to provide vital aid. They will travel from Borobekra (Lamtaikhunou) and Jiri to the affected areas in Jiribam, distributing essential supplies and offering support to the displaced persons (IDPs) gathered at the camps with the help of district administration.
This humanitarian effort aims to address the urgent needs of those affected by the violence, highlighting the collaborative response from FOCS, MWF, and media personnel to mitigate the crisis in Jiribam.
