Imphal, Jan 31:

The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) in Manipur strongly condemns the recent attack on two individuals belonging to the Rongmei community at Moirang Ngangkhalawai under Bishnupur District. In an official statement signed by Nerish Mangang, Secretary Information Public Relations, FOCS expresses its concern over the physical assault on Giangjilung Rongmei and Jeanguanglung Malangmei. The victims, hailing from Khoupum Satudai, Noney, and Bitiang Village, Laphok, Noney, respectively, not only endured physical harm but also had their belongings taken away during the incident.
FOCS underscores the severity of these attacks and views these incidents as a direct challenge to the overarching idea of Manipur. The statement points out that, in the current scenario, “Chin-Kuki Narco Terrorists are actively waging a war to undermine and destroy the fundamental fabric of Manipur. The need to discern between external threats and indigenous brothers becomes crucial in preserving the idea of Manipur.”
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, FOCS calls upon “local clubs, Meira Paibi, and civil society organizations to play a proactive role.” The organization “urges them to educate their volunteers on these sensitive matters, fostering awareness that can help prevent such incidents in the future.” By doing so, FOCS believes that “a collective effort is essential to safeguard the unity and integrity of Manipur.”
