Fishery Skill Development (SKD) Training Programme held

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Churachandpur has successfully launched the Fishery Skill Development (SKD) Training Programme sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad which comprises of series of training modules from 12th to 29th February 2020 at the training hall of the office.
The programme was inaugurated by Shri Khaikhopau Ngaihte, AC-DC Churachandpur as Chief Guest, Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as President, Dr. S. Roma Devi, Head in-charge KVK Churachandpur and Dr. N. Soranganba, SMS (Fishery) & Course Director of the SKD programme
Dr. N. Prakash in his presidential speech highlighted the importance of fisheries in the state and the need to cope up with the demand and supply deficient. He mentioned that the state has about one lakh hectare water bodies and produced about 32,000 MT of fish, out of the total requirement of 52,000 MT of fish. This gap could be filling up by increasing the local production and productivity. There is need for new scientific technology and intervention by the fishery experts/specialist and work more towards feed management, stocking management and latest technology in fishery to increase production and become self-sufficient.
The chief Guest of today’s function Mr. Khaikhopau Ngaihte, AC-DC, Churachandpur in his speech congratulates and warmly greets the trainees for their huge response and participation. He also cite that the local fish produce is not sufficient and there is more need for scientific method of aquaculture practice to garner more production and increase the productivity thus increasing production.
