First round of training for polling personnel conducted

Kakching, April 3:

The first round of training for all drafted Presiding Officers and Polling Officers I, II & III, scheduled for poll duty in Kakching district for the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha 2024, was successfully conducted today at the Training hall in the DC office building (New Block), located within the DC office complex, Kakching.
The training was divided into two sessions, accommodating batches 1 & 2 and batches 3 & 4 respectively. Facilitating the sessions were esteemed resource persons including T. Milikan Singh, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Waikhong and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO); O. Poreingamba Khumancha, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Waikhong and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO); M. Ingocha Singh, SDO of Kakching and ARO; and Hijam George, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kakching and AERO.
The training sessions were comprehensive, with a focus on the effective handling of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, as well as the conduct of Mock Polls. The duties and responsibilities of Presiding Officers and Polling Officers were extensively covered, along with practical demonstrations on the setup of polling stations, arrangement of voting compartments, and other essential procedures related to voting.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, Rohit Anand, graced the training session, accompanied by various district election officials. Anand shared words of encouragement and motivation with the trainees, underscoring the importance of their role in ensuring the smooth conduct of elections. He also took the opportunity to inspect the training session, ensuring the adherence to protocols and standards set forth by the Election Commission.
