A fire broke out today at the Auditorium of the Library and Information Centre, Kakching, reportedly caused by an electric short circuit. The blaze is believed to have started from the Ground floor of the Auditorium, where there is a Legal Aid Clinic.
Students who had come for the Special Sunday program first detected the fire and alerted local residents. The fire was subsequently brought under control with the help of the Kakching Fire Service, members of the Friendship Sporting Club, and residents of Kakching Phousupat Leikai.
The fire destroyed the rooms of the Legal Aid Clinic and the Press Conference Room, along with materials stored there, and damaged nearly half of the auditorium seating.
The Executive Committee of the Library and Information Centre, Kakching, expressed gratitude to the staff of the Kakching Fire Sub Station, members of the Friendship Sporting Club, Naorem Sanjitkumar, caretaker of Kakching Municipal Council, SI Khundongbam Gobin and his police team, the Irawat Celebration Committee, and local residents for their assistance in controlling the fire.
