Finance Department notifies concern departments to submit UCs

Imphal July 10: Principal Secretary (Finance) notified all the implementing departments to take urgent steps to speed up utilization of the grants and submit UCs if they are pending. A source told Imphal Times that Principal Secretary (Finance) of the state made his request to all the implementing departments of the 13th Finance Commission during a high level monitoring committee meetingheld on June 21 as the award period of the 13th Finance Commission would close on the 31st March 2015. He further expressed concern that utilization has been very poor and inability to utilize the grants during the award period would lead to lapse of the grants. Principal Secretary (Finance) further suggested that every implementing department should depute a nodal officer who will pursue with the nodal Ministry Concerned/ Ministry of Finance for expediting release of the grants.Ministry of Finance will release further instalments of Local Bodies grant only when a consolidated UCs for previous releases are received from all the three implementing Local Bodies i.e. PRIs, ULBs and ADCs. Non-submission of UC by a local body will deprive another local body of their grant even if UCs has been submitted.
