Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of Tribal Affairs and Hills today said that the central government has released the final installment for development of the hill area of the state under the 13th Finance Commission. Under the 13th finance commission the center had sanctioned rupees 51 crore for taking up of various developmental works in hill district during the year 2011 -12 and 2014-15.
The deputy chief minister said this while replying to a calling attention motion moved by Trinamool Congress MLA Th. Shyamkumar in the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly session. MLA Shyamkumar drew the attention of the deputy chief minister on the alleged cancellation of funding in hill areas sanctioned under the 13th Finance Commission due to inability to provide photographs and untilization certificate.
Replying the calling attention motion Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Tribal Affairs said that fund sanction under the 13th Finance Commission for taking up of developmental programmes in hills has to be released on 4 installments. Three installments have already been released and works taken up under the fund has been properly utilized. Gikhangam further said that the final installment of rupees 12.75 has already been released by the centre on February 19, 2015 after the concern department had submitted utilization certificate and photographs of the developmental projects being taken up at the hill area.
