Felicitation of NCC Cadets and Associate NCC Officer by Hon’ble Governor of Manipur

Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma Heptullah felicitated 2nd officer T Bobby Singh of Ruda Academy, SUO Govind Singh of Manipur College and Cadet Rajkumari Girija Devi of Imphal College, of NCC Group Imphal for their excellent performance in Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2021 and also for their swift action and the act of bravery in evacuating the passengers of Rajdhani Express wherein a bogie of the train had caught fire on 19 Dec 2020.
The cadets and ANO of NCC Group Imphal were travelling by Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express on 19 Dec 2020 to participate in RDC 2021 as part of the NCC Directorate, NER contingent. At approximately 1030 hrs, as the train approached Fakiragram Junction, Coach No B-7 caught fire. The cadets were travelling in the adjacent B-6 coach. Immediately 2nd officer T Bobby Singh, who was travelling as camp ANO, took charge of the situation, rallied his cadets to help evacuate the passengers to safety and led the efforts to extinguish the fire.
Hon’ble Governor commended the ANO and the cadets and exhorted them to continue the good work. She lauded the role of NCC in shaping the character of young minds and in training them to act swiftly at times of need. The Hon’ble Governor expressed her thoughts on NCC being made compulsory in all schools and colleges. Brig RS Sethi Group Commander NCC Group Imphal, Col Somnath Gupta, CO 14 (M) Bn NCC and the Principals of respective colleges were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
