A Farmers’ Field Day on demonstration of Rabi vegetables, focusing on garden pea and broad bean, was organised at Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district under a North Eastern Council project titled “Integrated Farming System Model Demonstration for Sustainable Economics and Livelihood.”
The project is being implemented by the Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Imphal East. The programme highlighted the successful cultivation and production performance of Rabi vegetables under the Integrated Farming System (IFS) model.
Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, attended the programme as Chief Guest. He spoke on the importance of Integrated Farming Systems in strengthening farm resilience, improving resource-use efficiency and supporting sustainable livelihoods, particularly amid climate-related challenges. He encouraged farmers to adopt scientific agricultural practices to enhance productivity and income and congratulated participating farmers on achieving a successful harvest.

Rishikanta Singh, Senior Scientist, ICAR Lamphelpat; Sapam Jiten Singh from the Department of Fisheries, Government of Manipur; Dr. Kamei Kakhulan, District Veterinary Officer; Dr. I. Bhupenchandra, Deputy Director of Extension Education, CAU; Dr. Y. Prabhabati Devi, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Imphal East; and Th. Ibochouba Singh, Junior Engineer, CAU Headquarters.
