Families of Haridas refute allegation of firing licensed gun

Families of Haridas clarified that the gun was not shot by Haridas and said why Haridas would be in ICU at Shija Hospital if he had shot the gun.This was said by Laishram Haridas’ nephew, Laishram Somokanta (31), s/o. Joykumar of Kakwa Pukhri Achouba Huidrom Leikai today while speaking to media persons in a press conference at Manipur Press Club.Narrating the other version of the story, Somokanta said on the eve of Ningol Chakouba festival last Saturday at around 08.30 while playing the dice board game (Lagao) Huidrom Shanti and his group lost their money and asked Somokanta to return him 200 bucks. As Shanti was insisting Somokanta said he returned 100 bucks and then Shanti left. Somokanta had to leave and find a different place to continue playing the dice game as told by Shanti. Thus the quarrel began and Somokanta was beaten up by Shanti’s group.Another nephew of Haridas, Laishram Farin (28), s/o. L. Angoujao of Liwa Oinam Leikai who was also present in the press conference said he saw Somokanta being beaten up by many people and when he seek local’s help to interrupt the fight they refused him. Farin said he had to go home and catch someone for help hence he brought his uncle Laishram Haridas. When the two entered at the spot to help Somokanta everyone attacked them and the license gun which was carried by Haridas was snatched by the locals. He further said his uncle Haridas was brutally beaten up by the locals of Kakwa for no fault and currently undergoing treatment at ICU at Shija Hospital.On the other hand locals of Kakwa Huidrom Leikai and Kakwa Leiphrakpham Leikai today blocked the Imphal-Moreh Kakwa Road demanding arrest of Laishram Gopen (43), s/o. Angouba of Kakwa Liwa Lambi Oinam Leikai – the culprit involved in the firing.
