Ex-Minister raises alarm over inaction after deadly blast

Former Minister Ningthoujam Biren has questioned the delay in action against those responsible for a recent bomb attack that claimed the lives of two children and their mother, who were reportedly killed while asleep.
Speaking to media persons at his residence, Biren alleged that the attackers, identified as Kuki militants, remain at large, raising concerns over the government’s response. He stated that failure to take prompt and decisive action could hinder the restoration of peace in Manipur and leave the public uncertain about the government’s intent.
He further expressed concern over the prevailing law and order situation, suggesting that the continued inaction creates an impression of lack of control and accountability. Biren questioned whether such incidents indicate that armed groups are operating without effective restraint.
Referring to the broader impact of the ongoing crisis, he noted that many people continue to face severe hardships, including difficulties in accessing medical treatment outside the state. He cited instances where patients were unable to travel due to lack of transport facilities, resulting in loss of lives.
Biren urged the authorities to act with urgency and responsibility to address the situation, warning that continued inaction could deepen fear and instability. He also flagged concerns over reports of bomb threats targeting residential areas, stating that such incidents are spreading panic among the public.
