Keisham Ningthemjao Singh, a former Congress candidate who contested the 2022 Manipur Assembly election from Andro Assembly Constituency, has been arrested by the Palakkad Cyber Police in connection with a Rs 1.84 crore online trading fraud.
According to report from the Palakkad Police, the 63-year-old, a resident of Yairipok, Laimanai Top Chingtha in Imphal East district, allegedly duped a Mannarkkad native of Rs 1,84,52,524 between August and November 2025 through a staged share trading scam operated via WhatsApp.
Investigators stated that the victim was initially shown small profits to gain confidence before being induced to invest larger amounts through fraudulent trading links. The money was then diverted to multiple accounts and siphoned off.
A significant portion of the funds was traced to Singh’s account at the Porompat branch of Central Bank of India, from where the amount was allegedly withdrawn using cheques. Police suspect the account was used solely for illegal transactions.
Authorities further disclosed that Singh is facing five other cheating cases registered in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.
The arrest was made under the direction of Palakkad District Police Chief Ajith Kumar, IPS, and supervised by DySP Jacob M.T. Investigation is ongoing.
