Eviction of encroachers along Naga River commences

IT News
Imphal, Sept 30:

Eviction proceedings have begun against encroachers along the Naga River in Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai, opposite the Mahila Battalion IRB, under the Heingang Assembly Constituency. Many shops were dismantled as part of a government operation, following a notification issued earlier that set a deadline for eviction on September 28. The eviction drive started at noon today using excavators.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioners of Imphal West and Imphal East had previously directed encroachers to vacate illegal occupations on Government Khas lands and state lands adjacent to National Highways, state roads, Inter Village Roads (IVRs), riverbanks, and drains. These decisions came after the area was ravaged by flood a couple of months ago.
