Talk about trust deficit between various communities of the state turn out to be another man-made propaganda by some vested interested people as in reality the bondage of brotherhood and sisterhood still is seen existed among the communities. Many communities which has been coexisted since time immemorial in the state of Manipur felt incomplete in celebrating any festival without inviting guest from other community. Today, one of the most significant festival of Manipur ‘Ningol Chakouba’ too has become a phenomenal festival to show the world the existence of true brotherhoods and sisterhoods among the various community of the state. Many organization have celebrated the Ningol Chakouba by inviting sisters and mothers from various community.
Today Mao-Imphal Market Coordination Committee [A joint committee of IPSA, ACOAM LUP, IPAK, PANDM, KANGLAMEI, KIL, CLK & KSA with Mao Union, Imphal and Mao Women Business Union, Mao) celebrated the festival at Sumang leela Shanglen, Palace compound here in Imphal. On the invitation of the CSOs – IPSA, ACOAM LUP, IPAK, PANDM, KANGLAMEI, KIL, CLK & KSA as many as 100s of women fro Mao (number may be less) came to attend the Ningol Chakouba in their best traditional attires . The ladies came around 100 km to reach Imphal travelling around 3 hour to reach before 9 am- the scheduled time.
MLA Karam Shyam, who attended the occasion while speaking on the occasion reiterated the unbreakable bondage of brotherhood and sisterhood among the various communities of the state. He lauded the CSOs organizing the event as such event will show the world that Manipur is still united and no force can break it.
Besii Pfoze Mao Chairman, Mao-Imphal Market Coordination Committee and H. Ibotombi Khuman National and International Awardee also attended the celebration as dignitaries. The Mao keithel has been open at different place of Imphal under the initiatives of the CSOs mentioned above to sell their products.
President of IPSa, Athouba while talking to media said that the CSOs have been demanding a permanent market shed for the Mao vegetable market producers here in Imphal. As of now, there is no suitable place and they are urging the government to arrange a permanent market shed for the Mao vegetable sellers.
He further said that as Ningol Chakouba is the day of the Ningol, the CSOs is taking the Mao ladies to Loktak as they have desired to visit the place.
