Chief Minister O Ibobi inaugurated an indoor stadium, women’s hostel and swimming pool of Pravabati College, Mayang Imphal today. Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, the Chief Minister said that the responsibility of providing quality education and developing the students and youth of the state into responsible and well-informed citizens cannot be achieved by the sole efforts of the state government but needs the cooperation and assistance of the private sector. Ibobi also added that education is a sector which the state government has been giving special attention and that the objective of achieving cent percent literacy rate has been the objective of the government given the fact that the literacy rate in the state has been steadily on the rise, but to achieve it, the involvement and cooperation of the community, society, students and the private sector is a must. Answering to an inquiry as to the payment of regular Grant-in Aid by the college authority, the Chief Minister assured that he will look into the matter and explore ways to fulfill the demand. Education Minister M Okendro, speaking on the occasion as Guest of Honour, stated that the objective of the state government of making self-reliant should be the common goal for all stakeholders and appealed to the teaching community to provide quality education to the students whether they are aided, private or regular staf
