Economic blockade is not political crisis but election crime – Maoist

Imphal, Feb 8: Rebel group Maoist Communist Party Manipur today said that the Indigenous people of the state need to jointly fight the game plan to eradicate indigenous people from the soil of the region.
In a press statement, the outfit said that people now need to ponder on, who is the architect of the prolonged economic blockade that had keep the people into ransom for so many years. The outfit also compared the fielding up of non-indigenous people by a specific political party as a move to end the indigenous people of the state. The rebel group said that such a war against the indigenous people cannot be fight by CSOs or the rebel group alone, but the entire people of the state need to stand together and fight for the protection and preservation of the indigenous people.
The rebel group further said that the present imbroglio being faced by the people of the state is not a political crisis but is an election crime. That is why the ruling political party in the state keep on playing blame game by throwing the ball to the center for so many days instead of finding a lasting solution.
In 2011, the UNC enforced 120 days economic blockade along the National highway. People of the state were put to extreme hardship. Even after knowing that economic blockade is a tool for the UNC and some other organization, the ruling congress government has never thought on how to face the economic blockade. It is known to everyone that a few days economic blockade made the essential commodities skyrocketing the prices. Even after knowing that such crisis are common happening the present congress government keep on blaming the central government or the NSCN-IM as the mastermind behind any such economic blockade.
The Maoist questioned on why the state government did nothing to drive out the NSCN-IM if the economic blockade is instigated by them. It further asked on why necessary action are not taking up against the UNC has it been done by the them. The rebel group said that the congress party has been using the economic blockade issue as a tool for election propaganda instead of trying to find a solution wipe out the suffering of the people.
The outfit further categorically stated the way that spokespersons of the ruling congress utilizing the issue for electoral gain. It appealed the people to prepare for a mass agitation on February 11 to February 18 to show that people are sour with the congress regime.
