Eat Right Walkathon cum Mela set in motion

The Food Safety Administration, Pherzawl under the guidance of Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) observed Eat Right Walkathon cum Mela alongside the 6thDistrict Hill Leaders’ Day & Meeyamgi Numitat the DC Office Complex in Pherzawl Headquarter. The event began with a Walkathon at 08:00 am from the Entry Point of Pherzawl Village to Forest Office Junction which was flagged off by the DC in a move to spread awareness on healthy lifestyleto make the right food choices as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The mela was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Haulianlal Guite, IAS: SP A.Ghaneshyam Sharma; SDO Tipaimukh I. Dinesh Kumar and other DLOs joined by several non-profit Organisations, the public and school going children.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged alltoprepare healthy meals at home which can support immune system and reduce the risk of illnesses.He further stated that to ensure safety & wellbeing, the mela provides an opportunity to learn about safe food and healthy diets, including health and nutrition benefits of food.
S. Surendro Singh, FSO, Pherzawl presented the welcome and key note address of the event. He also gave awareness of Common Food Adulteration raising the importance of eating food right and its concern on food safety.
As part of the event, nine stalls displaying organic products were opened. Also,painting competitions was held for school students in different categories.
