Dy CM opens 2nd Manipur Open Chess Tournament 2016

The 2nd Manipur Open Chess Tournament 2016 organised by Manipur Chess Association(MCA) was opened today by the Chief Guest of the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Gaikhangam at Kangshang  Khumam  Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.

The tournament which starts today and will continue till 31st October,2016 with a prize money of Rs. 2,68,500/- was competed by players from different districts of the state in different categories such as boys, girls, veterans etc.

Speaking at the Opening ceremony, the Chief Guest appreciates the organisers for promoting Chess game in the state and encouraged state players to continue playing the game which is considered as one of the most oldest and most relaxing game, and further appeal to the youngsters of the state to play the game since chess players are strategists as the game improves the level of thinking and it also involves devotion, concentration, determination  and use of intelligence.
