Dr. N. Bino launches statewide Polio Immunization drive

Dr. N. Bino, Director of Family Welfare Services, Manipur, inaugurated the State-level Polio Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) 2025 at the Family Welfare Complex, BT Road, Imphal today, emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance against polio.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bino said, “Although India has been declared polio-free, sustained immunization remains crucial, particularly as neighbouring countries continue to report cases. Continuous vaccination efforts are essential to maintain our state’s polio-free status.”
The programme was held in the presence of Additional Director Dr. Somorjit Ningombam, former RIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Y. Mohen, and Dr. Ksh. Memcha Devi, who, alongside Dr. Bino, symbolically administered polio drops to children, marking the start of the statewide drive.
This year’s campaign aims to cover around 3.16 lakh children through 3,167 immunization booths across Manipur. Highlighting the previous round’s success, Dr. Bino noted, “Over 90% of eligible children were successfully vaccinated last year, thanks to active support from the Education and Social Welfare Departments and strong community participation.”
The immunization drive will continue until October 14, focusing on ensuring full coverage and preventing any resurgence of polio in the state.
