The National Adventure Foundation (NAF), the APEX body of Adventure Sports in India headquartered in New Delhi, has appointed Dr. Kangabam Romeo Meetei, a renowned Adventurist and Mountaineer, as the Director of the National Adventure Foundation, Manipur Chapter. The appointment order was formally handed over to Dr. Romeo at the NAF Office, New Delhi, by Wing Commander K.K. Varna (Retd.), Executive Director of NAF, in the esteemed presence of Lieutenant General Raman Dhawan, AVSM, VSM, ADC, President of National Adventure Foundation. Head Office.
This momentous appointment marks a proud achievement for the state of Manipur, as Dr. Romeo brings over four decades of dedicated service and experience in the field of Adventure Sports, Mountaineering and Sport Climbing in India. His illustrious career includes leading multiple International expeditions, International Competitions, Guinness World Record & most notably a record-breaking and highly successful Mount Everest Expedition. Dr. Romeo has been a torchbearer in promoting adventure sports and has played a significant role in youth development through outdoor leadership and experiential learning. His contributions have been widely recognized, including being conferred Arunachal Pradesh’s highest “State Award — the Gold Medal” — twice during his tenure in the state. With this new role, Dr. Romeo Romeo is expected to further elevate the standards and outreach of adventure activities in the Manipur & Northeast region, fostering a spirit of courage, resilience, and environmental stewardship among the youth.
