DoRD Director reviews Churachandpur’s preparedness for VB-GRAM-G rollout

Ramavatar Meena, Director of the Department of Rural Development (DoRD), Ministry of Rural Development, on Wednesday reviewed Churachandpur district’s preparedness for the rollout of the Vibrant Gram Sabha–Empowered Village (VB-GRAM-G) initiative under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

At a review meeting held at the Mini Secretariat in Tuibong, Meena assessed the implementation of rural development programmes and the district’s readiness for the new initiative. DRDA Project Director Jameson Sehlal Hangsing presented a report on the district’s performance, covering MGNREGS persondays generated, pending works, Yuktdhara monitoring and e-KYC coverage across all 12 development blocks.

Interacting with Block Development Officers and field officials, Meena reviewed implementation challenges, including attendance recording, timely wage payments and monitoring of ongoing works.

He said the VB-GRAM-G initiative aims to strengthen rural livelihoods through the creation of durable community assets in areas such as water security, rural infrastructure, livelihood generation and climate resilience. The scheme increases the annual wage employment guarantee from 100 to 125 days per rural household, with projects to be implemented through Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans approved by Gram Sabhas.

Later, Meena inspected ongoing works at Headquarter Veng, Rengkai village and Bethel village, where he interacted with officials and Village Council leaders and called for close coordination to ensure effective implementation of rural development schemes.
