Don’t turn to booze to woo voters in Thongju: Th Biswajit Singh

Imphal, Dec 22:

Taking a jibe at his political opponents of the Thongju assembly constituency, Cabinet Minister Th. Biswajit Singh said politicians should stop offering liquors or organized parties to lure voters ahead of Manipur Assembly elections 2022.
Biswajit was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of Lainingthou Naothingkhong Meeteen Shanglen, Bashikhong Kitna-Panung & Wankhei Loumanbi, constructed in the memory of his mother (L) Th. Ibetombi Devi. He said that no government fund was used for the construction.
He also informed that the people’s long-standing demand to construct a bridge at Bashikhong would be fulfilled soon.
“I will fulfill the people’s long-standing demand to construct a bridge at Bashikhong. The residents of Maimom Leikai and its neighboring areas have been demanding to construct the bridge for 40 years. The construction will be started in January 2022,” assured Biswajit.
Rubbishing the opponents’ allegation of high expenditure on bridge constructions, the Power Minister said his government constructed sustainable infrastructure with a vision in contrast with the previous infrastructures that weren’t durable.
“The old bridges made of bamboos or timbers are not durable; that is why we have constructed durable bridges as they are long-lasting alternatives,” said Minister Biswajit, adding that they have not wasted money as claimed by his rivals.
“If politicians want to serve the people, a positive approach is also necessary, understanding the anticipations of the people. Criticizing everything won’t help,” Biswajit added.
Dedicating the Shanglen to the residents of Thongju, he urged everyone to be selfless and support each other to ensure the overall development of the society.
