Attitude of some doctors at RIMS Hospitals, the premier regional institute of the North East disappointed patient party.A patient who sought medical treatment at OPD at RIMS Hospital for stone case said that he came across a bad experience at the Urology Department of the hospital yesterday. He said that a senior doctor who was on duty at the department made fun of him by whispering some mocking words to his junior doctors.  He said that he was admitted at the Emergency Ward of the RIMS Hospitals in the evening of 10th August, 2014 as he was unable to urinate since early morning of the same day. He returned at home after he was catheterized by a doctor who was on duty at the Emergency Ward. As per the advice of the doctor the patient came to avail treatment at Urology OPD on Monday, 11th August, 2014. Doctors deployed at Urology OPD advised to take ultrasound, kidney function test and urine test for further investigation and asked to come on the following Monday which was a holiday.  The patient waited for one more week and went to Urology OPD yesterday afternoon. The doctor asked for the reports of the tests he asked to take. The patient also showed the tests reports to the doctor. While the doctor was looking for the size of the stone that caused problems to the patient, the patient answered about the size of the stone. At that point of time the doctor interrupted the patient saying not to teach him and made fun of the patient by murmuring some words to his junior doctors. The doctor allegedly murmured “if you know everything, then there is no need to come to here”, the patient said. The patient also lamented over the unfriendly attitude of the attendants and unhealthy environment of the hospitals. Mention may be made here that recently also there was an incident of referring a patient to AIIMS for surgery in kidney after furnishing a false report by the said department.
