DMU signs MoU with five South Korean Universities to promote academic and student exchange

Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a delegation representing five universities from the Republic of Korea to promote academic collaboration, faculty and student exchange, joint research and skill development opportunities.

The MoU was signed during an interaction programme held at Room No. 73 of D.M. College of Science on Monday, in the presence of the visiting Korean professors and university officials.

Speaking on the occasion, DMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh described the agreement as another milestone in the university’s development. He said the MoU would facilitate faculty and student exchange, joint research initiatives and Korean language learning programmes, besides creating opportunities for students to access Korean universities, institutions and employment avenues.

He added that the collaboration would also help students explore employment opportunities in Korean companies operating in India and other countries.

Prof. Tae Kyung Kim of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, Busan, South Korea, said the delegation’s visit aimed at introducing vocational education and training programmes that combine theoretical learning with practical skills. He said the programmes were designed to prepare students for employment in specific industrial sectors, including opportunities to study and work in South Korea.

Noting the country’s declining population and growing demand for skilled workers, he said South Korean institutions were exploring opportunities to recruit and train students from other countries, including Manipur.

He expressed hope that the collaboration would be sustained through regular interactions and joint initiatives.
