District-level ASHA Convention held at Thoubal

The District Level ASHA Convention 2025 was held today at the Thoubal CMO complex. The programme was organised by the District Health Society, Thoubal.
Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Hannah Kamei (IAS), who is also the Chairman of the District Health Society Thoubal, attended the convention as the chief guest. The District Mission Director, CMO Thoubal Dr. Y. Nokul, presided over the programme. District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Kh. Trusty, District AIDS Control Officer Dr. Y. Bijendra, District Nodal Officer (NP-NCD) Dr. M. Bikramjit, and District Malaria Officer Dr. L. Lalitkumar also attended as guests of honour.
During the convention, ten outstanding ASHA workers were selected from among the 266 ASHA workers under the district, including those from various PHCs and CHCs. They were presented with case awards and certificates in recognition of their performance.
Speaking at the event, DC Thoubal Hannah Kamei acknowledged the vital role played by ASHA workers in delivering healthcare services at both household and community levels. She noted that while doctors provide care in hospitals, ASHA workers serve as the first point of contact for people in villages and remote areas, ensuring essential health services reach every household.
She added that the foundation of hospital-based healthcare lies in the work performed by ASHA workers on the ground and urged them to continue their dedicated service. While highlighting the importance of their contribution to maternal and child health, she expressed concern over delays in disbursing salaries and assured that the District Health Society is working to address these issues promptly.
