District and Block level committee of MPCC supports ST demands for Meetei/ Meitei community

Imphal, Oct 11:  District and Block level committee of the Manipur Pradesh District Committee has extended support to the demand for inclusion of Meitei/ Meetei to Schedule Tribe list under the constitution of India. The members of the MPCC committee also agreed to endorse the demand put up by the Coordinating Body on Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee (CBSTDC) Manipur to the Chief Minister and other leaders of the MPCC.
The decision to support the movement for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei to Scheduled Tribe list was taken during an interaction programme held today at Manipur Press Club. Almost all office bearers of the District and Blocked Level Committee of the MPCC from Valley districts attended the interaction programme.
 Convenor of the CBSTDC, M Churamani, while speaking to media persons said that the interaction programme from the grass root workers of the Congress party is being organized in consideration to the importance of the Congress party in pushing up the matters for saving the indigenous people as it is in power in the state government. He expected hopes that the Congress leadership including the Chief Minister of Manipur will take the demand for ST status of Meitei/ Meetei community as genuine and serious as it is the only means to protect the people.
Working president of STDC of Moirangthem Naodalen Khomba, member of consultative body of STDC RK Rajendra and Chairman of All Blocks Congress President forum Nandalal Angomcha graced the interaction programme as dignitaries.
