District Agriculture Fair at Senapati District

District Agriculture Fair, 2022 under the theme “Organic farming” was held today at Multipurpose Hall, Senapati. It was jointly organised by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and District Agriculture Office, Senapati.
Speaking as Chief Guest, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati said like the horticulture department which have recently exported a large quantity of pineapples outside the state, there is a lot of potential in the agricultural sector as well. He also urged the farmer to come forward and take maximum participation in interacting with various field experts.
Todinang Panmei, Additional Director, Department of Agriculture, Manipur on his guest of honour speech urged the farmer in the district to take up High Yielding Variety for producing more quantity of crops; Soil Health Card for obtaining the status of soil health; and, Crop insurance to cover the loss incurred by the farmer due to reduction yield.
S. P. Lovejoy Anal, District Agriculture Officer, Senapati in his speech said 9 schemes are being taken up in the district to increase the zeal of the farmers. He also said various seeds crop are given free of cost whereas machinery for farming are given out at subsidy rates to the farmer. He also urged the farmers to attend various awareness programmes and camp to keep oneself updated with the latest knowledge.
In today’s programme, various outstanding farmers were also felicitated for their outstanding achievement. They were H. Sania from Tadubi block, Dilip Kumar Bhrupal from Saitu block, Ph. Keturah from Paomata block, Kala from Willong block and Sana Lucy from Kangpokpi block. Altogether 14 exhibition stalls were also opened show casing the farmer product.
In the technical session, there was an active interaction between the farmers and farmers scientist.
The programme was attended by many farmers and beneficiaries related to agriculture.
