Thoubal,Jan.25: The discussion on “Understanding the conflict in Manipur and AFSPA 1958” jointly organised by North East Dialogue Forum, Youth’s Forum for Protection of Human Rights, Khangabok Development & Students Union and SYPO Heirok was held today at Heirok Part-I Umang Lai community hall.
The discussion was held to explore the origins of the currently prevailing conflicts in the state and the imposition of AFSPA, 1958 in the state.
U.Jenison Singh, member of North East Dialogue Forum gave the key note address highlighting the issue by bringing back the historical episodes of the conversion of indigenous religion and culture, the coming of British colonialism and the imposition of AFSPA, 1958.
Dhanabir Laisharam Social Scientist, Kh.Ashokumar, L.Mandir, Joykumar Laisharam Convenor COTA Thoubal District and N.Angangchouba Vice-president All Manipur Farmer Association also attended the program besides the participation of youths, meirapaibis and elders of the area.
