Imphal, Nov 4: Non inclusion of quotas for persons with disabilities to the notification for appointment 72 panchayati secretary as regular post and 161 accountant cum data entry on contract basis has irked the disabled people’s organization resorting them to announce serious form of agitation.
In a press statement, secretary of State Platform of Disabled People Organisation’s Manipur, Kh Yunus Khan said that in the advertisement notification for appointment of the above mention post by the Directorate of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, there are quotas for ST, SC, OBC (M) and OBC (MP). However, there are no quotas reserved for the persons with disabilities even as the PWD Act 1995 and 1996 mentioned about the compulsory reservation of 3% reserved for the persons with disabilities, he added.
Yunus Khan further said that many bureaucrats and politicians often talk about respecting persons with disabilities and to honour their rights but the recent act by not giving opportunity to the disabled persons for the posts in the panchayati secretary and Accountant cum data entry has proved that those are only words from lip and not from heart.
He appealed the government to once more notify the advertisement before November 12, failing which the organization threatens to launch serious forms of agitations.
