Disability Assessment Camp held at CHC Kakching

An assessment camp of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) was held at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Kakching Conference Hall today under supervision of the District Administration Kakching.
It may be mentioned that the camp was held following the announcement made by Shri Rohit Anand, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kakching, in his 79th Independence Day address stating that Medical Disability Board will be convened in Kakching District on the last Friday of every month. Earlier, the residents of the district had to travel to Thoubal District to get disability certification.
The Health Department, Kakching under supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kakching in coordination with the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), Kakching jointly organised the assessment camp of PWDs for the district. A total of 84 individuals had their assessment done in today’s camp. Doctors from different fields examined the attendees to determine disability status as per the relevant rules and regulations.
Disability assessment camps are organized to issue disability certificates and Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards. The goal is to identify and provide certificates to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to enable them to avail benefits under various government schemes.
On previous day, NCD Cell, District Health Society, Kakching under the supervision of District Administration Kakching organized screening programme with the theme “United by Unique”. The screening of Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer, Hypertension and Diabetes in connection with the observation of World Cancer Day 2025 at the Sugnu Makha Community Hall. As part of programme, a health talk on Cancer was also organised. A total of 150 participants took part in the programme.
The programme was attended by Dr. Thaodem Rajen Singh, Chief Medical Officer/DMD DHS Kakching as Chief Guest; Dr. Thingbaijam Ibohalbi Singh, Medical Office i/c, CHC Sugnu Hospital as President; Dr. Takhellambam Jullon Singh, DNO, NPNCD DHS Kakching and Oinam Puspa Devi, DPM, NHM Kakching District graced the programme as Guests of Honour.
