DIPR organises three-day welfare campaign under Jan Kalyan Shivir

As part of the nationwide Jan Kalyan Shivir Public Welfare Campaign being conducted from June 12 to June 20, 2026, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Government of Manipur,successfully organised a three-day Welfare Camp for journalists and beneficiaries from June 18 to June 20, 2026, at DIPR Headquarters, Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.

During the three-day welfare camp organised at DIPR, the camp focused on services relating to the Manipur State Journalists’ Welfare Scheme (MSJWS) and the Manipur Working Journalists’ Pension Scheme (MWJPS). The journalists were facilitated with enrolment under the MSJWS and MWJPS. Services relating to the submission of applications and grievance redressal were also provided. Journalists and beneficiaries were able to obtain information and clarifications regarding the provisions, eligibility criteria, and benefits available under the schemes. Pension books were distributed to eligible beneficiaries, ensuring the timely delivery of benefits and services under the welfare schemes administered by the Directorate.

On the final day of the camp, Director, Information and Public Relations, Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh, distributed pension passbooks to journalists who had recently been approved as subscribers under the Manipur Working Journalists’ Pension Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the Jan Kalyan Shivir is a commendable initiative and holding this camp at DIPR enables journalists to access various welfare services and benefits taken up by the Government with greater ease.

He appealed to all journalists to actively avail themselves of the benefits and services offered under the Manipur State Journalists’ Welfare Scheme and the Manipur Working Journalists’ Pension Scheme, emphasizing the importance of such welfare measures in ensuring the social and financial security of media professionals.

During the three-day camp, the welfare camp witnessed the participation of eighteen journalists, who availed themselves of various services offered under the two schemes. The camp also served as an effective platform for creating awareness with around 40-50 journalists inquiring about the welfare schemes administered by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.

The successful conduct of the Public Welfare Camp reflects the commitment of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations towards ensuring effective implementation of welfare measures for journalists and facilitating timely access to benefits and services under the relevant schemes.

It may be mentioned that Jan Kalyan Shivir Public Welfare Campaign is being undertaken with the objective of ensuring effective outreach and saturation of welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes of both the Central and State Governments, so that all eligible citizens may avail themselves of the benefits and services provided under various public welfare programmes.
