Differently abled body urges for separate budget

02nd winter disabled Mela for inclusive society in observance of ‘International day of persons with disability’ with the theme of ‘sustainable development: the promise of technology’ was inaugurated yesterday at Tera Bazar, Imphal. The three days long Mela was organised by Relief Centre for the welfare of differently abled persons, Manipur.
Speaking to media persons, President, Relief Centre for the welfare of differently abled persons, Manipur, Chirom Opendro said world disabled day is observed in the state for only one day that is on 03rd Dec. He said the government and related authority of the state should frame a state policy in a long term plan for the disabled persons to live independently. Surjit further said that the local area development fund is a huge amount and the concerned MLAs can sanction some amount for the welfare of disabled persons of their constituencies. He added that he was disappointed to know there was only one stall in Sangai festival opened by disabled persons. He demanded the government to keep 20 stalls only for the disabled persons in next Sangai festival and make the environment friendly for the disabled.
