Unwanted incident happening between volunteers of DESAM and some volunteers of JCILPS student wing has created misunderstanding between volunteers, making way for DESAM to part from the Joint Student body.  The Joint student body of 5 students’ groups has been undergoing intensified form of agitation demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the state.
However, after two of the volunteers of DESAM were allegedly beaten up by some volunteers of other student groups of the JCILPS students’ Wing after being picked up from its office at Keishampat ,  DESAM today said that they will not go along with the Joint Students Wing of the JCILPS but will organized its own group to demand the Inner Line Permit System in the state.
Speaking to media persons  at its Keishampat H/Q, Moirangthem Angamba, President of the students’ body said that a group of “drunkard with evil minds” who proclaim themselves as members of the Joint Committee JCILPS (Students’ Wing) have allegedly kidnapped two volunteers of DESAM namely Elangbam Ojitkumar alias Musuk and Nepram Ronil from their Keishampat office on Sunday afternoon 3.30. After they were beaten black and blue, the duo were handed over the two volunteers on Monday 12.30 AM.
He said he was removed from the post of Convenor of JCILPS Students’ Wing without informing him. Expressing strong reservation against the incident, Angamba said while citing some of the efforts to sidelines DESAM from the Committee.
He also demanded to the members of JCILPS Students’ Wing who were involved in the kidnapping of DESAM volunteers to tender apology.
The ideological rift among the component bodies is widening day by day. The internal conflict the people might have seen the JCILPS in a negative sense and it might divert from the main goal. In an earnest effort to regain the momentum of the movement and push further towards the goal, DESAM along with other like-minded groups have joined together and will launched Re-consolidation Campaign For Implementation of ILPS (Phirep Cheksinba Khongjang), he announced.
DESAM along with Re-consolidation Campaign For Implementation member organizations will conduct awareness campaigns across the state till the implementation of ILP in Manipur.
Speaking to Imphal Times, Elangbam Ojitkumar, who was allegedly attacked by a group of JCILPS Students’ Wing said that those abductors were drunk.
DESAM members along with various women bodies staged sit-in-protest in front of its Keishampat office against the kidnapping and attacking of the two.
