Deputy CM attends the 57th GST Council Meeting

Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Nemcha Kipgen, attended the 57th meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, chaired by the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on Thursday.

The meeting deliberated on key policy reforms aimed at resolving GST-related disputes and streamlining the flow of input tax credit, with a view to reducing compliance costs and easing the burden on taxpayers.

Emphasising the importance of cooperative federalism, Nemcha Kipgen stated that constructive engagement between the Centre and the States is essential to strengthening the GST framework and ensuring a more transparent, efficient and taxpayer-friendly taxation system.

She further reiterated that the Government of Manipur remains committed to effectively represent the concerns and aspirations of the people and contributing meaningfully to policy deliberations that promote inclusive growth, economic development and improved governance.

The Deputy Chief Minister underscored that such collaborative efforts are vital to building a robust and responsive GST system that supports businesses, facilitates compliance and advances the country’s economic progress.
