Department of Law, MU, hosts one-day awareness campaign on three new criminal laws

In an initiative aimed at legal reform and public awareness, the Department of Law at Manipur University hosted a one-day campaign focused on three newly enacted criminal laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatty A Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023. These laws are set to replace the outdated Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Evidence Act. The event took place at the Court Hall of Manipur University in Canchipur, featuring Professor Naorem Lokendro Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, as the esteemed chief guest.
Throughout the event, prominent figures such as P. Tomcha, President of AMBA; Dr. Yumnam Premananda Singh, Head of the Department of Law; Nameirakpam Brajakanda Singh, Faculty at the Department of Law, M.U.; and Dr. Th. Tapasini Devi, Assistant Professor at MU, delivered lectures and provided insights into the implications and applications of these groundbreaking criminal laws.
