The on-going state assembly session today passed 6 more demand for grants of state education department, agriculture, Community and Rural Development, PHED, Minor Irrigation and State Academy of training.
A sum of rupees 1197,18,84,000/- was passed for state education amidst policy cut motion moved by four MLAs including Dr. I Ibohalbi, L. Ibomcha, K. Shyam and Th. Shyam.
The opposition MLAs moved the cut motion on account of failure to improve the standards of government schools in academic performances; failure to increase the number of approved teacher/lecturers in private schools; failure to shift Johnstone Higher Secondary School from the heart of city to a place like foothills of Langol; failure to extend 6th pay scale to the government aided school teachers; appointment of unqualified college principal; lack of necessary reforms for improvement in the Education system in the state; lack of maintenance of school building and irregular utilization of SSA teachers.
A sum of rupees 146,58,04,000/- was passed for state agriculture department. While passing the demand opposition MLA Dr. I Ibohalbi and MLA Shyam moved cut motion on account of failure to develop Agro-based industries in the state; improper use of land resources and lack of practical approaches.
Demand or grant passed or community and rural development is rupees 679,29,80,000/-. While passing this demands, MLA I. Ibohalbi and MLA Th. Shyamkumar moved policy cut motion on account o failure to develop a system to stop the system of minus bidding in the e-tender of the PMGSY, Manipur and also for failure to submit proposal for setting up of Rural Technology Park in the state.
The amount passed for Public Health Engineering as rupees 272,25,56,000/-. While passing this demand MLA L. Ibomcha, MLA K Shyam and MLA Th. Shyamkumar moved policy cut motion on account of failure to provide fund for completion of Haobam Marak Water Supply Scheme; inability to supply proper drinking water despite having number of schemes and failure to properly implement some of the water supply schemes in Imphal East district.
The demand for grant passed today or Minor Irrigation as rupees 85,79,60,000/-. While discussing the demand MLA K Shyam moved a policy cut motion on account of failure of schemes due to construction in privately owned land.
For the state academy of training the grant passed was rupees 5,02,88,000/-. MLA Th. Shyamkumar moved policy cut motion while discussing the demands on account of improper training programmes for teachers.
