Sensitiveness of the Manipur state while imposing the laws to deal with issues of various communities in the state was reminded today by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam while clarifying to the cut motions by opposition MLAs to the passing of the demands for grants for Home department in the ongoing state Assembly Session. He said the complex nature of the Manipur state should be understood well and it should be remembered by all that if the truth committed has the tendency to distort the integrity of the state than it is better not to do the truth.
“Mildness is not weakness, we are doing everything to settle the matter to safeguard the integrity of the nation”, Gaikhangm said.
The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to the Congress MLA N Biren when he said that why the state government is not sending the law enforcers to deal with the criminal activities by law breakers. Biren was referring to the snatching of documents from the loaded vehicles by suspected supporters of NSF in Senapati district along National High ways after the NSF had announced ban on vehicles of the state to Naga inhabited. The Congress MLA also questioned on how the government is allowed a student body of another state to operated criminal activities in the state.
Biren further said that the police are helpless in hills as they are not empowered with adequate powers. Giving Aimol tribe problems in Chandel district Biren said that why the government has failed to provide security to the community whose existence is threaten by a specific group.
