DDCC suspends proposed Imphal–Moreh road bandh

The District Development Coordination Committee (DDCC) has announced the indefinite suspension of its proposed bandh along the Imphal–Moreh road following assurances from the Manipur Government regarding its demands.
The decision was taken after a meeting held on April 18, 2026 with the Chief Minister of Manipur Yumnam Khemchand Singh and the DDCC. During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured that the committee’s charter of demands would be addressed. Similar assurances were also given by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Losii Dikho.
Based on these commitments, the DDCC stated that the proposed bandh would remain suspended indefinitely with effect from April 20, 2026.
However, the committee cautioned that failure on the part of the Government to act on its assurances within a reasonable timeframe could lead to the reinstatement of a total shutdown along the Imphal–Moreh road.
The DDCC also conveyed appreciation to the nine Naga tribes of Tengnoupal district for their support, and appealed for continued cooperation and solidarity in the days ahead.
