A newly constructed Patient/Public Portico at Thoubal District Hospital, developed under the MPLAD (Members of Parliament Local Area Development) fund of Outer Manipur MP Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur, was inaugurated today by Deputy Commissioner Ahanthem Subhash, IAS.
The portico, implemented by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Thoubal, has been built in front of the hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) block. Speaking at the event, DC Ahanthem Subhash stated that the structure was necessary due to the lack of proper shelter for patients and attendants waiting outside the OPD. The project was sanctioned under the MP-LADS fund to address this issue.
The portico, measuring 100 feet in length and 41 feet in width, is expected to provide shelter and relief to patients and the general public visiting the hospital. It will serve as a resting and waiting area, especially useful during adverse weather conditions.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by ADM Thoubal B. Lokeshwor Sharma, Executive Engineer Ng. Somendro of DRDA Thoubal, Superintendent of Thoubal District Hospital Dr. W. Ruhinikumar, and other officials and dignitaries.
