DAMMS condemns massacre of civilians

DAMMS expressed strong condemnation to the massacre of innocent mine workers in Oting Village under Mon district, Nagaland by the Indian Security Forces. Down the decades, countless innocent lives have been discriminated, terminated and subjected against by the draconian law of AFSPA 1958 and Disturbed Area Act-DAA imposed by the Government of India to North East region. This totally violates the human right of Northeast people and it is a crime against humanity.
“We deeply regret the lost of 15 innocent lives and many injured during the ambush by the Indian Security. DAMMS extends solidarity and strongly stands for the democratic right of the northeast people. And we demand Government of India and Government of Nagaland to look into the matter seriously and all the responsible officials and personal should be terminated immediately and justice should be served at the earliest to the bereaved families”, a statement of the students’ body said.
DAMMS further appealed to all the students body and CSOs of the North East to stand against all types of tyranny.
“It is high time to stand against this Draconian law and we demand redressal for the historical injustice meted out against the north east people by the Indian government”, it added.
