Tension continues to grip Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh even after Civil Society leaders of Moreh under the initiative of the state government district administration had taken resolutions to reopen Moreh town to resume normalcy.
Yesterday, leaders of the CSOs meet the families of the two Tamil victims, killed in Myanmar territory Tamu and after discussion, the family members of the two Tamil victims agreed to resume normalcy in Moreh even though the Myanmar authority still is not handing over the dead bodies.
Families of the two Indian Tamil youths – Mohan (28years), S/o Late Perumal of Moreh Ward No.2, and M. Iyarnar (35 years), S/o Murga, both residents of Moreh Ward No. 4 Tengnoupal district Manipur had even agreed to perform rituals of the departed soul, our Moreh correspondent said.
However, the announcement or agreement to reopen shops and other business sectors did not work out as Moreh town bore a deserted look with shops and business centers remaining closed.
Our Moreh Correspondent added that Assam Rifles had beefed up security measures in the border area. Myanmar vendors who use to sell gods at Moreh town are not seen and the Namphalong market complex remains closed. He however added that some shops were seen open in Moreh but the streets of Moreh still look deserted and no customers were seen buying things from the shops opened today.
