A potentially life-threatening medical emergency was averted at Imphal International Airport today after a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel collapsed in the departure hall while preparing to board a flight to Delhi.
According to officials, the personnel is suspected to have suffered a cardiac-related condition, triggering panic among passengers and staff present at the terminal.
In a critical turn of events, Dr. Ph. Kiron, Commandant (Medical) of a CRPF battalion based in Delhi, who was present at the airport, immediately intervened. Displaying presence of mind and professional expertise, he rushed to the scene and administered emergency medical assistance, stabilising the patient during the crucial initial moments.
The passenger was subsequently attended to by the airport’s medical unit and the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Airport authorities stated that the timely intervention by the CRPF doctor proved decisive in preventing the situation from escalating. His prompt response ensured that the patient received immediate life-saving care without delay.
Airport staff and security personnel also assisted in crowd management and facilitated the swift evacuation of the patient to medical facilities, ensuring a coordinated response to the emergency.
