CPI(M) Manipur Condemn attacks on Tripura Opposition Leaders

Imphal, Dec 30, The Manipur State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expressed strong condemnation to the unending attacks against the CPI(M) and its leaders in Tripura by goons owing allegiance to the BJP . “In this continuing spiral of violence against the CPI(M), on December 28, Gautam Das, Secretary of the Party’ s Tripura State Committee along with Ratan Bhowmik, MLA were waylaid and attacked at Bishalgarh town, while they were returning from Mirza, Udaipur . A few days earlier the same gang of miscreants had attacked former Minister and current Chairperson of the PAC of Tripura Legislative Assembly ,Bhanulal Saha”, a statement by Kshetrimayum Santa, Secretary , CPI(M), Manipur State Committee said. The statement added, “That hoodlums of the ruling party can dare to physically attack top leaders of the main opposition party and its elected representatives in broad daylight speaks volumes of the impunity they enjoy under the current dispensation in the state. Such attacks have become a common feature in Tripura ever since the BJP came to power in the state.” The statement also condemn the inaction of the DGP even after compliant by pin pointing the perpetrators. The Manipur State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) demands the immediate arrest of the culprits and called upon the people to vociferously protest against these attacks on the Party and the opposition in Tripura.
