Imphal, June 6:

Tripura which is a North Eastern State of India like Manipur having almost equal number of the population have jab Covid vaccine to 16,36,116 (sixteen lakhs thirty-six thousand one hundred and sixteen), while Manipur could able to vaccinate around 5,03,757 people.
As per record available from the government, in five days starting from June 1, a total of just 34,658 people were vaccinated at 392 vaccine centers across the state even though the authority planned 396 sessions.
The third phase vaccination for the state of Manipur started on May 17 and as of June 5, the total number of people vaccinated so far between 18 years to 44 years old people is 51,975 only. From June 1 to June five, the authority could manage to jab just 13,527 people in this age group even though thousands of others are waiting for their schedule.
While the state of Tripura has given 2nd dose Covid Vaccine to 5,08,052 people as per the report appeared at Cowin application, the total number of people in the state of Manipur who get the 2nd jab stands at 80,885.
The state of Tripura seems to have more experts in organising mass vaccination programme than the state of Manipur.
It may be mentioned that in a meeting of the Core Vaccination Committee held on May 21, 2021 at 2 pm under the Chairmanship of the State Mission Director the committee resolved to relax the limitation of 150 vaccine beneficiaries and also resolved to order the session target to speed up the vaccination drive.
However, the number hardly reached at any of the sites selected for vaccination except at some few CHCs. The resolution of the committee was not at all a successful one with the vaccination programme failed to speed up.
Yesterday again the State health authority had decided to double the vaccination center (permanent) with an off day on Sunday during the emergency time.
