Imphal, June 18:

Finally, it seems the authority in the Department of State Health Mission is taking the vaccination program with some seriousness as the vaccine administered from June 1 till June 17 of this month climbs higher when compared to the vaccine administered in the last 16 days of May (May 15 to May 31).

As per record, the vaccine administered from May 15 till May 31 was 80,388 (Eighty Thousand three hundred eighty-eight). A total of 79,165 people were administered the  1st dose, while a total of 1223 were administered with the 2nd dose vaccine in the last part of 16 days of May month.

The total number of vaccines administered during June ( June 1 till June 17) is reported as 97,991 (Ninety-seven Thousand nine hundred ninety-one). So as per arithmetic, there is a rise of 17, 503 when compared between the 15 days of the last part of May and the first 17 days of June.

However, there seem to be some loopholes in the vaccination drive conducted during the month of June starting from the first day till June 17 even as the number climbs.

There were 1258 vaccination sessions scheduled from June 1 to June 17 and during this session total vaccination administered was 97,991. During the session scheduled the authority successfully administered 10,423 on June 4, 11,099 on June 9, and just 200 and 334 on both Sundays. On June 17 the authority planned 60 sessions and could administer only  1,858.

When the authority can arrange 110 sessions and could vaccinate 11,099 doses then why the authority could not arrange the same on other days. Besides, the central authority had already announced that for vaccination a person need not register their name to get a schedule for vaccination. Any person can come for vaccination at any center as per the notification of the Union Government.

A rise in the session is the need of the hour and a 24-hour vaccination center should now be considered as vaccination is now left as the only optioned to protect the society from the covid-19 pandemic.
