Over 100 doctors and nearly 200 nurses have tested positive for COVID-19 across India so far. Since most of these infections were transmitted by patients in a hospital environment, at least 1000 medical workers, had to be quarantined and nearly 20 hospitals had to be fully or partially closed.
It is not just those working in Covid-19 wards who are on the front line, but also the community health workers and officials who are involved in contact tracing and screening suspected patients by going door-to-door in virus hotspots.
