Court sentence rape convict to life time imprisonment

Imphal, Dec 20: The Fast Track Court, Crime Against Women today sentence life term imprisonment for rape convict of 2014 Heingang rape incident. The court sentenced life imprisonment till his natural death to Khuraijam Bungbung, 30 yeras, son of late  Indrajit from Lamglongei who was found guilty in the three year old rape case. two others Nongthombam Bocha, 43 years, son of Bihari and Khuraijam Khamba Singh, 26 years, son of Guno both from Lamglongei were sentenced 20 years rigorous imprisonment to for abetting the crime.
Mention may be made that the incident occurred in January 2014 near the foothills in Heingang. The three persons were produced before the Additional Session Judge Fast Track Court, Crime Against Women Lamphel today for sentence hearing after they were found guilty.
Special Public prosecutor Sushila Devi pleaded for rigorous sentence for the convicts in the case and the defence counsel pleaded for lenient sentencing of the convicts. After hearing both the sides, the judge pronounced the sentence stating that raping a woman is like murdering her.
