Imphal, April 28:

The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) has called for a 12-hour total shutdown in Manipur‘s Kangpokpi district following the death of a Kuki community member.
Reports indicate that one person from the Kuki community was killed and three others injured in a clash with Meitei groups at Koutruk village in the Koubru mountain range.
The deceased, identified as Pu Lammang Kipgen, was a village volunteer according to COTU.
In a statement, COTU blamed “unprovoked attacks by secessionist Meitei terrorists and the Arambai Tenggol with tactical and logistical support from the State Police” for the death. They have called for a 12-hour shutdown “as a mark of respect” for the deceased.
