CoSHEM Class XII Exams begins; 31,530 students appear at 117 centres

The Higher Secondary Examination 2026 conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoSHEM) commenced today across the State, with 31,530 students appearing at 117 examination centres.
According to CoSHEM Secretary Kh. Ashikumar, the examinations will continue until March 20. He stated that this year witnessed a marginal increase in both the number of candidates and centres compared to 2025, when 31,352 students appeared at 112 centres in the Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
Of the total candidates this year, 23,146 are from the Science stream, 7,697 from Arts and 687 from Commerce. Among the 117 centres, 39 are located in the hill districts and 78 in the valley districts. The Secretary further informed that 412 internally displaced students are appearing for the examination and extended his best wishes to all candidates.
CoSHEM Chairman Takhellambam Ojit Singh appealed to parents, civil society organisations and student bodies to extend cooperation to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. He urged the public to refrain from organising bandhs, blockades, strikes or public gatherings near examination centres during the examination period.
In separate messages, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and other political leaders conveyed their best wishes to students appearing for the Class X examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur and the Class XII examinations under CoSHEM.
The Chief Minister encouraged students to approach the examinations with confidence and composure. Referring to a message of Narendra Modi, he advised students to be “exam warriors” rather than “exam worriers.” He observed that while examinations are important milestones, they do not solely determine success, and urged students to remain calm, focus on self-improvement and avoid unnecessary stress.
He also called upon parents and teachers to guide students constructively without placing undue pressure on them.
