Protesting against the State Government’s Order for re-election of Chandel ADC Chairman on September 11, 2015, the Committee on Protection of Tribal Rights (CoPoTR), Chandel submitted a memorandum today to the Governor of Manipur for immediate intervention.
In a memorandum signed by Kohring Victor, Chairman CoPoTR Chandel sought for immediate intervention of the Governor of the State as the State Government issued an order for conducting re-election of Chandel ADC Chairman on Friday.
While un-justifying the reason for postponement of the Election of ADC Chairman, the Committee in the Memorandum stated that postponement of the Election of ADC Chairman due to 60 hrs Bandh called by the Tribals of Churachandpur District against passing of three Bills in the Assembly shows the discriminating and suppressing the minority by the ruling O. Ibobi led Congress Government.
Beside condemning the State Government for issuing new order for electing ADC Chairman and changing the venue at Imphal, the Committee also strongly opposed the moves of the State government to shift the Regular Office of the ADC at Chingmeirong Imphal as done for the past 5 (five years) which is against the wishes of the people of the District.
If the State government go ahead with the re-election and allow the ADC to function it from Imphal, the general public of Chandel District will launch any agitations against the state government and will strongly move a demand of Separate Administration outside the Government of Manipur, warned the Committee.
